Arthur sees everyday life working on the bins. He sees what people throw away, sees what could be re-used, & sees the litter strewn streets, emblematic of a society that doesn't care & has given up.

Cold, dark most mornings, frosty air about the place
at the beginning of another weary day
each moments brings his past life - the things he' left behind
there's his old flame & a child but not their face

Takes a look at his life, which he sees without a mirror
he's a dustman now, with debris left behind

as he pulls on work boots, walks past his degree framed by the window
locks the door on the world he left behind
there once was a day when the sun shone so brightly
now there's nothing there but chaos left behind

as he picks up the junk, he thinks of the small town
